Gone Fishing

The boys were pretty excited to land the big Rainbow!

The Summer has been whipping by pretty quick, and Chandler has asked me a number of times to go fishing. With less than three weeks to the end of fishing season time was running short. Yesterday, Dad had mentioned that he, Mom and Uncle John were heading to Ben's Lake Saturday afternoon for some fly-fishing. I thought what a perfect opportunity to get some good fishing in with the boys and to catch something good. So off to the lake we went... Rhonda came with us, and we all had fun. We looked at the Rainbow Trout in the large netted area where they are raised. We also got to feed some of the larger fish in the "buy what you catch" area. The fishing was fun too. Chandler was getting really good at casting (in his cast!). Connor had a few fish take his "hook line and sinker" before he helped Daddy reel in the big one of the day... At 4.7lbs it was the biggest trout we had ever caught, everyone was excited and it took a while to get him into the net. We paid for our fish, and we decided it was time to head out. We went for a drive in the eastern part of the Island with a supper break in Georgetown before we headed for home. Nanny, Poppy and John had little success in the "catch and release" section of the pond, but after we left they caught massive 5 and 7lb Rainbows to take home. A great place to fish! My brother Jeff and BBQ'd up our Rainbow a few nights later... Wow what a lot of eating, and man it was good!
